Only In London

Posted 30 Apr 2009 Sally Chatterjee, Interim CEO

Visit London’s new summer campaign launches today (29 April 2009) and is based around the premise that there are some things in life that only London can offer. In current times, it’s an ever more carefully chosen destination that will create the backdrop for a summer holiday or a city break. Not only do we believe that value for money is more possible than ever in London, we also think that our diverse and inclusive capital city is home to some of the most distinct experiences in the world. Just some of the examples on our starter list of 100 are:

  • Recreate the famous Beatles album cover on Abbey Road
  • Be wowed by the largest cut and polished white diamond in the world - Cullinan I (First Star of Africa) at the Tower of London
  • Drink at Europe’s longest champagne bar at St Pancras International
  • Choose from more national museums in one city than any other capital in the World
  • Swim in England's largest open air pool at Tooting Bec
  • See the Grade II listed original wooden red telephone box, in the Royal Academy of Arts courtyard
  • Pay your respects to a host of literary greats in one place: from Dickens to Chaucer to Kipling to Tennyson at Poets Corner, Westminster Abbey
  • Home to the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games

The £2 million campaign will focus on London and the UK, Europe and North America, and has recently received an additional boost of £400,000 from four Central London Boroughs (Camden, City of London, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster).
